What is Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy?

Physical Therapists are experts in human anatomy, the way the body is designed to move and how to facilitate optimal functioning. Your pelvic floor is a complex set of skeletal muscles, which are responsible for supporting your pelvic organs, controlling bowel and bladder function, stabilizing the lumbar spine and pelvis, enhancing sexual function, and aiding in circulation.

How can Pelvic Floor PT help during pregnancy?

Not only can pelvic floor PT treat or prevent pain during pregnancy, training your pelvic floor to withstand the bodily changes during pregnancy can enhance your movement and function capabilities during pregnancy and aid in postpartum recovery.

Pelvic floor therapy during pregnancy can also improve your birth experience by training your pelvic floor to relax and coordinate with your breath during labor and delivery.
